March Update 2025
Hello to all members. It is hoped that this newsletter finds you doing well and looking forward to a warm and sunny spring season (fingers crossed).
The fourth (in a series of four) Healthy Aging Workshops – Thriving In A Digital World, was held on March 20 with a full capacity of 70 participants. All four workshops have been well received and have been attended by hundreds of seniors from Fenelon and surrounding areas. It is hoped that with further funding these educational workshops will resume later this year. Thank you to all of the volunteers who work to make these workshops possible and to the many who attended them.
The Canadian Hearing Services are once again willing to provide a screening clinic if enough people are interested (date yet to be determined). The clinic would be held at the club with specific times allotted to those attending. If interested, please contact the club at 705-887-7007 or fenelonseniors@gmail.com.
The next Trivia is this Thursday, March 27 from 2:00 to 4:00. Everyone is welcome to participate in this very enjoyable activity with lots of fun and laughter.
With the club being used for a number of weekly activities and many rental bookings, it is important to keep our coatroom usable and accessible. As such, it is not possible to provide space for participants to leave belongings such as shoes and coats from week-to-week. Please be sure to take shoes, clothing etc. home and not leave them at the club. Currently, there is a laundry basket in the coatroom containing a number of jackets, shoes and various belongings that have been left at the club (some since early fall). Please check to see if any of the items are yours. Anything remaining in a few weeks will be donated to the Salvation Army.
The Fenelon Country Living Show is being held April 25, 26, 27 and the club will have a booth there to promote the club, membership and activities. We are looking for volunteers to take short shifts of time at our booth. We have done this for a number of years and it has been very beneficial for the club and a fun way for members to help the club. Please contact the club if you would be able to help on any of the days.
The club’s Annual General Meeting is being held on May 29. All club members are invited and encouraged to attend. At the AGM the 2024 Financial Summary is presented for approval by the membership. A slate of Board Members for the year is presented and approved. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer Board Member, please give it consideration. Don’t hesitate to contact the club if you would like to know more about what the position involves as the club needs an active and hard-working Board to ensure the club remains viable and serves the needs of seniors in Fenelon Falls and surrounding areas in the years to come. Thank you.
Please save the date of June 19 for our Seniors’ Tea in celebration of Seniors Month. More information will follow.
