Booster (3rd) Doses of COVID-19 Vaccine 

The province announced November 3rd that booster doses of COVID-19 vaccine are available for the following groups if at least six months (168 days) have passed since their last dose:  

•        First Nations, Inuit, and Metis adults, and adult household members 

•        People 70+ years of age 

•        Health care workers and essential caregivers 

•        Anyone who has had 2 doses of Astra-Zeneca or 1 dose of Janssen-Janssen

Also eligible for a booster dose: Moderately to severely immunocompromised individuals, if at least 2 months (56 days) have passed since their last dose. Read specific details by looking up “Expanded Eligibility for third doses of the COVID-19 Vaccine”. 

Booster doses are NOT mandatory and are not considered urgent. People can get COVID-19 vaccine and flu vaccine at the same time.   

Booster doses are available to anyone who is eligible in the following ways: 

•        Health Unit clinics – go to the HKPR website www.hkpr.on.ca or use this link  COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics   

•        Local pharmacies – go to the Ontario COVID-19 website covid-19.ontario.ca and look up vaccines-Pharmacy, or use this link  COVID-19 pharmacy vaccine locations 

•        Many primary care providers are offering vaccines. Check with your provider.  

Anyone in need of a first or second dose can also go to Health Unit clinics or pharmacies.
