Newsletter 54: February 2022

Greetings

Hoping that this newsletter finds you well and staying warm through this long cold spell. With the easing of the Covid restrictions, the club is once again opening activities beginning the week of Feb. 7. Mask wearing and full vaccination status will still be required. It will be great to see one another again.

50/50 Draw Update

The first of the three 50/50 draws sold out quickly and the draw was held on January 11th. Congratulations to the lucky winner of $710, Peter Brendle. The lucky ticket was sold by Kate Elmer. Both Peter and Kate are club members. A special thank you to all those who sold tickets and to the many who bought tickets. The second 50/50 draw will be held on March 8th and tickets will go on sale February 9th. If you would like to help support the club by selling tickets, please call Rosemary at 705-887-6244. During the first draw books of ticket were snapped up quickly, so if you want to reserve a book or two call ahead. Once again, 400 tickets will be available in books of ten.

Further Fundraising Update

In addition to the 50/50 draw, the club has launched a letter appeal to local businesses asking them to support efforts to keep the club building open and functioning. To date, this appeal and accompanying press releases have resulted in the start of sponsor donations coming in. More specific information regarding the campaign progress will be shared as the campaign progresses. A sincere thank you is extended to the businesses able to sponsor the club and also to anyone, club members included, who have made a donation to the club. The work on our new website is progressing well and it is anticipated that it will go “live” before the end of February.
